And now a word or two from Dorothy Spirus, Instructor
Hello! I’m a former magazine editor and have been teaching writing classes through the City of Irvine Community Services for over a decade. Another session will make its debut in Huntington Beach in January. My one-night lecture class, “Writing for Magazines” covers all you need to know to launch your career as a freelance writer. This course is offered in spring and fall. “Creative Writing,” a six-week course, is about, well, writing creatively.
Allow me to explain:
In Creative Writing class, students are encouraged to work on their own independent projects. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting started. And sometimes the next hardest part is finishing. If you have creative ideas you’d like to pursue, come to class and get on it! Now, for those who’ve started something, are unsure about it, lost enthusiasm about it, or just can’t seem to finish, sign up for class and renew your resolve! (We all need a little kick in the pants from time to time.)
Or may be you don’t have any specific ideas, but you know you’ve got this feeling inside that you want to express. You want to use your mind creatively. Come to class; you’ll get inspired. Your thoughts will take shape and become ideas. I can give you a writing assignment/exercise to get you going.
My classes are casual, fun, and foster creativity. But don’t take my word for it. Read the student testimonials on this website. Questions? Just ask! Send an email today! Now! Don’t procrastinate! Yeah, I’m talkin’ to you!
